Advancing the Philippines’ Renewable Energy Transition ⚡
The 4th Wind Energy Forum (WEF), organized by NIRAS, was held on May 26, 2026 at Makati Diamond Residences, convening key stakeholders across government, development institutions, and the private sector to address critical pathways in scaling renewable energy in the Philippines.
Centered on the theme “Sustaining Power: Leveraging Philippine Resources for a Renewable Future,” the forum tackled key enablers of the energy transition, including:
- Policy and regulatory developments supporting offshore wind and energy storage (BESS) deployment
- The Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) outlook
Investment de-risking strategies and the role of public policy in mobilizing capital
- Climate finance, multilateral support, and export credit agency (ECA) participation
- Bankability of renewable energy projects, particularly offshore wind and emerging technologies
Discussions also emphasized the importance of aligning global standards with local realities, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration to unlock the Philippines’ renewable energy potential.
With contributions from institutions such as the Department of Energy, Department of Finance, British Embassy Manila, Royal Danish Embassy, GWEC, HSBC, SCANIS, and NordCham Philippines, the forum reinforced the role of partnerships—led by NIRAS—in accelerating a resilient and low-carbon energy system.
