On 27 August 2024, the event “Your Business and Data Privacy: A Guide to Compliance and Best Practices” successfully equipped attendees with crucial knowledge about the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and essential data compliance practices for both businesses and individuals. Hosted by NordCham Philippines in partnership with InCorp Philippines at Marajo Tower, Taguig, the event offered valuable insights into data privacy legislation and effective compliance strategies. 

Expert Guidance from Industry Leader 

The event was facilitated by Ivy Leslie Tahimic, Data Protection Officer and Consultant at In.Corp Corporate Services Philippines, Inc. With her extensive experience in data protection, Ivy guided participants through the complexities of data privacy compliance. Her expertise provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the Data Privacy Act and practical steps to protect their businesses and clients’ data. 

Comprehensive Learning Experience 

Participants delved into six comprehensive modules, covering everything from understanding the key provisions of the Data Privacy Act to mastering privacy principles and concepts. Attendees learned about the obligations of Personal Information Controllers (PICs), the rights of data subjects, and the importance of managing personal data responsibly. 

A highlight of the program was the practical approach to implementing data privacy frameworks, such as the NPC’s Five Pillars of Compliance and the NPC Data Privacy Accountability and Compliance Framework. These frameworks equip businesses with the tools needed to safeguard data and ensure compliance with national regulations.
